After sending the cylinder head from the 1970 MGBGT we were working on to the machine shop, we get some bad news… it’s cracked… bad. Luckily after checking a few of the heads I had sitting at the machine shop from my stock waiting to be checked, we found one that was good and that one got reconditioned instead.
We look at where the cracks were in the head we took off the car and check out the lifters and deck surface in preparation for putting it all back together. After dropping the new head on we look at how manifold flange thickness varies not only through the production run, but also how none of the aftermarket parts are the same either, and a solution to getting everything properly clamped up.
