Discs with dual layers (BD-50s) are particularly prone to degradation due to how they're manufactured, and many popular titles have been reported as defective—including 127 Hours, Scream, Cloverfield, Jurassic Park 3, The Witch, and more. Even Criterion Collection, known for high-quality releases, has faced issues with films like Citizen Kane and The Seventh Seal.
