Larry Bachman recounts his days as a B-24 bomber pilot during WWII. Did you know we bombed neutral Switzerland ...twice! Larry was on the first mission. B-24s also dropped napalm on trapped German troops... Larry participated but believed it was an atrocity.
Look for the unique name of Larry's B-24; it is a current business entity that probably had no idea a B-24 was named after them. Also, Larry recounts "borrowing" a private citizen's aircraft for the war effort. I was the first person he told about this wartime "necessity." He passed away peacefully on Sept. 22, 2013, but his story lives on.
This video was recorded in June, 2005, and comes courtesy of Combat Aircrews' Preservation Society (CAPS). CAPS has over 200 interviews of WWII airmen and WASPs. Look for new stories weekly.
