The site’s homepage became briefly accessible to a limited set of users, fueling speculation of a possible re-entry into the Indian digital space.

However, both the Government of India and ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, swiftly clarified that no ban has been lifted and no unblocking directive was issued. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology explicitly labeled claims of a reinstatement as “false and misleading.”

Reports suggest the brief access to the website was likely the result of a technical glitch or network configuration error—similar to a past incident—rather than an intentional revival. The TikTok mobile app remains unavailable on both Google Play and Apple App Store in India, with no change in policy or official statements indicating a shift.

In short: while a fleeting glitch triggered excitement, TikTok’s ban in India is still firmly in place.
