Westlander To Cunnamulla 1997

As a part of the Beyer Garratt's Trip to Charleville hauling the Western Mail, the train Journey continued on to the end of the line hauled by 1772D to Cunnamulla. This would be the last time a passenger train graced the station and the locals put on a warm welcome for train on arrival.

A photo stop was done over the Angellala Bridge, little did anyone know that 17yrs later it would be blown apart by a huge explosions caused by a truck rolling over carrying Ammonium Nitrate.

This would spell the end to all rail traffic south of Westgate as even though the Government had allocated funds to replace the bridge, it never eventuated.

Again I can not take credit for any of the footage or photos. My heart felt thanks to John if he is still with us for capturing history in the making, as well as the many others who took photos.
