I don’t like posting sad things, but unfortunately, reality is reality.
This is happening all across the US everyday. We are going to keep losing more and more of our natural land until someone fights back. Coconut Creek claims to be the butterfly capital of the world; however, they sacrifice more and more natural butterfly habitats every day. Slogans can be very hypocritical.
The US loses about 36 million trees annually to new construction and other development in urban and suburban areas, with an estimated 6,000 acres of open space lost daily, which equates to about 4 acres per minute. While this is a significant number of trees, it is part of a larger trend where 37% of all tree cover loss since 2000 has been a permanent result of development for new settlements, agriculture, and infrastructure.
