Weirdest Worst Sounding Train Horns Ever! Springfield Ohio City Trains At Railroad Crossings With Train Horns Mounted On Poles! Female Engineer Takes Norfolk Southern Train Around The Wye. New York Central Railroad Heritage Unit Leading Heavy Grain Train. Indiana & Ohio Railway Train Passes Railroad Crossing In Wilmington, Ohio.
I spent the day in Springfield Ohio filming trains on the Norfolk Southern Dayton District. I wanted to show the wayside train horns that are mounted on poles. On the way to Springfield I passed through Wilmington, Ohio where I heard a train approaching over my radio as I was getting gas. I filmed the train at a railroad crossing that I have never filmed before just south of downtown. If the train had been a long mixed freight I would have chased it through Midland and Loveland. Since it was a short local I continued on to Springfield.
Springfield is a No Train Horn Zone for the Norfolk Southern trains. Some crossing have horns mounted on poles. This video shows the horns with trains passing by at two different crossings. I also filmed a Norfolk Southern local switcher, the L04 going around the wye in town and going back in the direction that it came from. The local has a female engineer running the locomotive long hood forward. We see some abandoned railroad tracks and a close up of the rail.
We also see a Norfolk Southern Heritage Unit leading an eastbound loaded grain train just before dark. I had just enough light to get this train before taking the long drive home. I heard the trains approaching on 160.980 which is the road channel and also 452.9375 which is the end of train device frequency.
