Masterful Didgeridoo Meets Ancient Metronome: An Unparalleled Sound Duel!

Love it or hate it: THE METRONOME. I have learned to love it and have accepted it as a small, incorruptible fellow musician. It was time to dedicate an ode to it.

My faithful companion, the metronome, with its relentless ticking and precision, forcing me to be musically disciplined. In the early days of my musical journey, the metronome was a disruptive intruder into my creative freedom. Its mechanical rhythm seemed cold and merciless, as if it would mercilessly expose every mistake, every deviation from perfection. But over time I learned to appreciate its constant presence, its impartial way of helping me to master tempo and rhythm.

Today, I see the metronome as an indispensable part of my musical expression. With every click, it provides me with a firm foundation on which to build and refine my musical ideas.

The metronome also teaches me an important lesson about life: the importance of consistency and perseverance. Just as the metronome unwaveringly keeps its rhythm, I too must persevere, working patiently and persistently towards my goals.

So my initial reluctance to use the metronome has turned into a deep appreciation. It is no longer just a tool, but a symbol of the musical journey itself - a journey that requires discipline, patience and a steady pace.

And I know that if it gets out of time, it's me who's wobbling.


ABOUT ME ... MARC MIETHE

I launched my musical career in the children's choir of the "Deutsche Oper" (German Opera, Berlin) and discovered the didgeridoo in 1992 as a bass player. With my bands Circular Breathing, Peshkar, Gnawa Impulse, Boobinga (with Armin Metz), BiOS, O.Ton Projekt, Mantra Tribe, and Didges Brew, as well as through my solo projects, I developed a very personal approach to the didgeridoo. As a qualified Body Psycho Therapist, I have been sharing my knowledge as a teacher since 1994 and have published several articles on Didgeridoo Playing.

I have had numerous appearances and workshops at festivals worldwide, corporate events, trade fairs, and on radio and TV. Highlights include a tour with Indian superstar Arijit Singh (MTV India), performances with the brass quintet of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Berlin, Pop Meets Classic, Klangzeit Festival, DLD Conference, World Youth Festival, Respect Festival Prague, Fusion Festival, Love Parade, Sennheiser Global Conference, BMW Formula 1 Party Monte Carlo, SAP Fair Nice, Thomas Cook, MTV Select, and the official opening of the 12th IAAF World Championship.

In 1999, I co-founded the Berlin-based world music network Cross Culture Music and have been working as a booking agent since then. I have contributed my didgeridoo artistry to approximately 20-25 albums and samplers.
