Need to replace your AC system? Here are a few things to help:

1. When do I need to replace my AC System?
EnergyStar.gov says: "Consider replacing it with a unit that has earned the ENERGY STAR label. Installed correctly, these high-efficiency units can save up to 20 percent on heating and cooling costs."

It is not uncommon to see AC units last for 12 to 18 years. When determining whether or not you should replace your AC system homeowners consider the following:

Age of Ac system
Type of refrigerant used (R-22 or R410A)
What is your average utility bill? Has it begun to exponentially increase?
When was the last time your Ac system was inspected or had a tune-up?
What conditions are the coils in?

2. Do I need to replace the inside and outside units?

3. Do I need to replace the duct system?
Energy.gov states "about 20 to 30 percent of the air that moves through the duct system is lost due to leaks, holes, and poorly connected ducts. The result is higher utility bills and difficulty keeping the house comfortable, no matter how the thermostat is set."
