Prestley Blake, co-founder of the Friendly Ice Cream Corporation, wanted to build a modernized replica of Monticello─ President Thomas Jefferson’s 18th century landmark home─ in Somers, Connecticut, he turned to Laplante Construction of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts. The Laplante team designed and built this stunning 10,000 square foot home to be historically and architecturally accurate on the outside yet complete with modern, luxury amenities on the inside. See the meticulous attention to detail in every room of this home, built with the latest green construction techniques by all local contractors and locally sourced materials. The project was completed in November 2014 for Mr. Blake’s 100th birthday; he exclaimed, “The end result is truly breathtaking.”
