Jamie and Jimmy are back at the end of Southend Pier, kicking off your weekend with good food,
great chat and celebrity fun and games…
Getting us in the mood for the weekend are the kings of Saturday night telly –Ant and Dec. The
multi-award winning presenters swap their ‘Takeaway’ for Jamie’s delicious home-cooked feasts as
they roll up their sleeves and cook together for the very first time! With a successful career that
began as young actors on Byker Grove , it’s their music career that provides their one and only regret.
When they toured Japan as PJ & Duncan, they didn’t embrace the food on offer and never tasted any
sushi – despite absolutely loving it now.
Jamie and Jimmy help to right that wrong and get the boys ready to rumble with a beginner’s guide
to Japanese cuisine. The boys’ 30 year friendship is also put to the test when they go head to head
with Jamie and Jimmy in a battle of who knows each other best. Could this finally be the award Ant
and Dec can’t win?
There’s also all the usual delicious recipes from Mr Oliver, as he rustles up a mouthwatering
Italian-style steak and chips, with beautifully tender T-bone steak, tangy salsa verde and crispy
roasted spuds, while Jimmy downs his tools and picks up the pans, to give Jamie a run for his money
in the kitchen. His simple crispy chicken is perfect weekend food and will look impressive without
slaving away for hours.
And this year, the boys are back on the road spending time with the people who make the food and
drink that we love, and even having a go themselves. This week, Jamie and Jimmy let off some
steam and train as baristas at a coffee company that helps homeless people get back on their feet.
