KNOLL MultiBaler XL - baling RDF (Refuse-derived fuel) at waste processing site in The Netherlands

Besides processing various agricultural crops, there is also increasing interest in processing other short products for processing with our KNOLL MultiBalers.

Our flagship, the KNOLL MultiBaler XL is ideally suited for use in industrial environments in addition to agricultural use. From this perspective, we pay attention in this video to the processing of RDF (Refuse-derived fuel).

This video was recorded at the waste processing site of the company Langezaal, from Haaksbergen in the Netherlands. Here, municipal, industrial and household waste is sorted, separated and then processed in the shredder plant into a homogeneous and fine-grained residual product.

Essentially, RDF consists of the following materials:

Plastic
Paper
Textiles
Organic materials

Many components in various types of waste (including household, grey and industrial waste) possess a significant calorific value, making them excellent fuel. RDF can be used as an (alternative) fuel for both power plants and various industrial processes such as, for example, the cement industry.

The environmental benefits of RDF are twofold: it results in a decrease in landfilled waste and also reduces the use of fossil fuels.

The high-calorific components separated from waste and then dried are known as 'fluff'. This is a dry, flammable and very light material.

As a machine, the KNOLL MultiBaler XL lends itself perfectly to RDF processing.
The machine is capable of processing a large amount of loose product to a large amount of bales per hour. Some features of an RDF bale made by a KNOLL MultiBaler XL are:

Processable up to 75% dry matter
Bale weight up to 900kg (depending on product)
Processing up to 50T per hour
Volume reduction of at least 2:1
RDF in bales can be stored anywhere
Easy to transport
