WorldOregon hosts a candid and timely discussion with Jill Dougherty, CNN's former Moscow bureau chief, as she explores Putin's motives and what it could mean for the West. Vladimir Putin is intent on "winning" his war against Ukraine. But his ultimate goal goes much further: to restore relations with the United States, putting Russia - and himself - back at the international table, on a par with the American president, a "decider" on issues around the world. But is the world ready for this resurgent Russia?
ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Jill Dougherty served as CNN's Moscow bureau chief; White House correspondent; Foreign Affairs Correspondent covering the U.S. State Department; U.S. Affairs Editor; and Managing Editor CNN International, Asia-Pacific, based in Hong Kong. She currently is a CNN on-air Contributor, commenting on Russia-related issues. Dougherty is an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University’s Center for Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies and is a Global Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the World Affairs Council. She is the author of My Russia: What I Saw Inside the Kremlin (releasing on April 15 from Lyons Press/Globe Pequot).
