The Gift is a song for Lorraine, my beloved sister.
Lorraine has struggled deeply, and this song came through me one night as a prayer of gratitude that she is still here. It’s about love, survival, and the courage to face what’s hard to talk about —suicide, mental health, and the tender, messy beauty of being human.
We created this video together, Lorraine as filmmaker, me as songwriter, to offer something beautiful and healing into the world. May it be a balm for anyone who needs to know they’re not alone.
The song closes with the Hebrew prayer:
