In this video we’ve got a couple of champions to put to the test - two Electrifying.com Cars of the Year. The Volvo EX30 and the Kia EV3.



These are both compact hatchback-SUVs, one of the most popular categories of car there is. In this video we’ve got the most affordable long range models each with a larger battery - so not quite the entry level models. This means that you’re looking at around £36 - £37,000.



Let's look at the stats of our two contenders. Representing South Korea, the Kia EV3. It’s the newest car here and this is our car of the year for 2025. In this Air spec it will set you back £36,000 for 375 miles of range from its 81.4kWh battery with a usable capacity of 78kWh. DC rapid tops out at 128 kW and a 10-80% charge will take 31 mins.



And representing Sweden (or China because that’s where it's built) we have the EX30 - our 2024 Car of the Year. It comes in at £37,000 for its the basic Core model and for that you’ll get 296 miles of range from its 69 kWh battery, with a usable capacity of 64 kWh. Charging - 28 mins will get you from 10-80% with a top rate of 153kW DC.
