To Master’s, or not to Master’s? | Pros vs. cons, 3 questions to ask & recommendations

This is one of the most frequently asked questions I’ve had since starting TheOxfordPsych.

Note 1: Since October 2019, graduates of a UK degree can stay for 2 years after graduation to work in the UK. 2 years for Bachelors & Master's and 3 years for PhD degrees. You can only do this once (i.e. not do it for every graduate degree you take). This can probably help with the post-master's job search angst a little bit!

Note 2: Some doctorate programmes who have different academic requirements have a significantly lower proportion of trainees with Master's degrees - my points were based on my own experience applying to London universities and Oxford. Please check the alternative handbook for your specific universities.
