Http (Hyper text transfer protocol) is a OSI layer 7 (application layer) protocol which helps client browser communicate with the web server. Https on the other hand is "http over tls/ssl" which means it has a layer of security powered by TLS (Transport layer security) or SSL (Secure Socket Layer).
