The Opel Astra G Coupé was more than just a variant of the Opel Astra G. Building on the numerous qualities of the model, the Coupé brought a 50% increase in structural rigidity, along with even better build quality and materials. The drag coefficient improved further thanks to its design, and the available engines – although also found in the regular Astra G – started with the 1.6i and went all the way up to the magnificent 2.0 Turbo (Z20LET), with 190, 192 and 200 hp versions depending on the car’s model year. On the diesel side, this role was taken on by the excellent 2.2 DTI.

In 2001, the Astra G Coupé won an award in Italy that highlighted it as “the most beautiful car in the world.” The golden shade – Capri Gelb – “Capri Yellow,” exclusive to the Coupé and Cabrio versions, further emphasized the flowing lines and elegance of this incredible Coupé.

In terms of equipment, and in line with the Astra G, the Coupé offered everything from Electronic Climate Control, Navigation Systems, Telephone, OnStar connectivity services, Alarm with double locking, through to simple features such as Cruise Control, On-Board Computer, and much more.

When it comes to active and passive safety, curtain airbags (in addition to front and side) became standard after MY 2002, while active headrests, pretensioners, and even a pedal release system were included as well. Traction Control was standard on all but the 1.6, while Stability Control (ESP) was optional only on the 1.8 and standard on the rest.
