The Hollywood Sign is one of the most iconic landmarks in Los Angeles, California, symbolizing the entertainment industry and the glamour of Hollywood. Located on Mount Lee in the Hollywood Hills, the sign consists of large white letters that spell out "HOLLYWOOD.
The sign was originally erected in 1923 and initially read "HOLLYWOODLAND" as part of a real estate advertisement for a new housing development in the area. It was meant to be temporary, but it gained fame over time. In 1949, the "LAND" part was removed, leaving just "HOLLYWOOD."
Each letter is 45 feet (about 13.7 meters) tall, and the entire sign stretches to 350 feet (about 106.7 meters) long, making it visible from many parts of Los Angeles.
While the sign is a popular tourist attraction, visitors cannot hike directly to it due to restrictions to protect the landmark. However, there are several vantage points around Los Angeles where people can view and photograph the sign, such as Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood & Highland Center.
Beverly Hills is situated in the western part of Los Angeles County, bordered by West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and the Santa Monica Mountains.
It's part of the "Platinum Triangle," along with Bel-Air and Holmby Hills, representing the most affluent neighborhoods in the LA area.
One of the most iconic streets in Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive is synonymous with high-end shopping. It’s home to flagship stores of many luxury brands such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Chanel, and more.
The three-block stretch is known for attracting celebrities and tourists who visit for the luxurious atmosphere.
