Full Route Visual. London Bus Route 472: North Greenwich - Abbey Wood. Enviro400MMC 11021 YX68UKF

Today's visual is on the London bus route 472 from North Greenwich to Abbey Wood which is another route TFL is planning to withdraw unfortunately so I decided to do this route on the opportunity I had. I heard back in the past when this route was introduced to replace an express service numbered X72 and when it use to terminate at Thamesmead before its extension towards Abbey Wood which was definitely needed. But now this route is getting withdrawn on the 26th January 2026 being replaced by a new superloop numbered SL11 and a night route N472 which is a shame. I really don't see the point of withdrawring this route for a superloop considering TFL didn't do this with the 34/SL1 and the 183/SL10. Plus TFL claims that retaining both 472 and SL11 would result in "too much capacity" which seems like a silly excuse to me for extra money because why can't TFL just decrease 472's PVR so theres not too much buses along the route? Just common sense. As a result of the change, people will have to use the 180/229/244/301 as alternatives. And TFL even missed an opportunity to make the route go through Silvertown Tunnel so it could go to Canning Town. Also this isn't even the end of it, we're also losing the 283 and potentially the 349 because it looks like TFL is slowly bringing back every single old proposal they did back in the past. Regardless through the route is a really nice one, I enjoyed the scenery, especially around the A2016 and A2041 just before heading towards Thamesmead. Unfortunately both drivers were quite slow so there wasn't much of a kickdown but it is what it is. Needless to say I'm really gonna miss this route when it gets withdrawn, I definitely recommend doing the route to any enthusiasts watching before the route gets withdrawn, at least it will still technically exist at night. I'd rate the route a 9/10.
