Frusciante Friday | Can I make the Boss DS2 and SD1 work together?

After searching the web and watching many YouTube videos, the perception appears to be that the Boss DS2 doesn’t work well with an SD1.
Can I make them work together?
These are just my theories and tastes so, take them with a pinch of salt.
