Anya Taylor Joy & Alexander Skarsgard open up about filming difficult scenes | The Northman

The Northman has already been hailed as one of the best movies of the year so far, and now the stars of Robert Eggers' new film have reflected on what it was like to make such an immersive, expansive movie.

The film is an adaptation of the Scandinavian legend that inspired Hamlet, with the synopsis teasing "an epic revenge thriller that explores how far a Viking prince will go to seek justice for his murdered father".

The events of the film unfold across an unforgiving landscape, where protagonists Amleth (Succession's Alexander Skarsgård) and Olga (Peaky Blinders' Anya Taylor-Joy, reuniting with Eggers after The Witch) are left to fend for themselves against the elements.

In an exclusive chat with Digital Spy, Taylor-Joy & Skarsgård reflected on the making of the movie and how the difficult location influenced the cast's approach to their roles.
