One of Carlos Lalonde’s first orchestral pieces, A Seafarer’s Fanfare has been lauded as the winner of the 2019-20 GTCYS Call For Scores Competition. It is to be premiered in May 2020 at Orchestral Hall in Minneapolis, MN.
“Starting from a simple woodwind/string melody in the beginning, the piece personifies the journey of an old seafarer, someone who is out at sea for several months at a time; rarely having time to see their family, but searching for something beyond the sea. The fanfare-like elements and grandeur, coupled with the timid and reserved moments develop a metaphorical journey from beginning to end.” - Program Notes
