In a world overflowing with options, we often mistake having more choices for having more freedom. This talk explores how the choice illusion and decision fatigue quietly shape our daily lives, from simple wardrobe dilemmas to life-defining decisions. By understanding clarity, self-awareness, and practical resilience, we learn to choose not based on pressure, but on who we truly are. Because what matters isn’t how many choices we have, but how deeply we know ourselves when we choose. Dewi Fransiska Simanjuntak is a lecturer in psychology at Universitas Negeri Jakarta with a background in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Universitas Indonesia. She brings both academic depth and practical insight to understanding human behavior in the workplace and beyond.
Before joining Universitas Negeri Jakarta as a lecturer, Dewi Fransiska spent years counseling teachers and students, helping them cultivate gratitude, resilience, and balance. Her experiences span various institutions, including Kemenkes RSKO and Panti Sosial Bina Laras, where she delivered talks on burnout, mental health, and growth mindset. Passionate about personal growth and psychological well-being, Dewi continues to empower others through education, self-awareness, and transformation. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
