Today I am going to show you how I created a painting of a Blue jay on a tree by glazing with oil and acrylic paint
This painting was done on a 14”x17”
artist loft canvas
•••• materials ••••
*white charcoal
*liquitex basics
*masters touch acrylic paint
*masters touch oil paint
*linseed oil
*water
*brushes
*hair dryer (recommend for fast drying ;)
*masking tape
•••• Steps ••••
First, I spayed my canvas with water and painted in a variety of green acrylic colors in the background
Second, I sketched in the shape of my Blue jay in a white charcoal pencil and covered it in masking tape
Third, I began glazing watered down green acrylic paint over my background many times to create depth
Next, I began painting in my tree and bird by shading them in with acrylics and glazing oil paint over them to get a vibrant color saturation
Last, I sprayed a clear gloss varnish over my painting to protect my finished result
