Is PORTAL FANTASY (aka ISEKAI)... escapism?

Can we treat fantasy literature (particularly isekai / portal fantasy) in a way that's not glorified escapism? What are the narrative tropes and traps that we should avoid in order to respect our audience and our story?

Are all forms of escapism bad in the first place?
