**STORY BEHIND THE SONG**
(Long Read)

I wrote this song in 2007 when a young boy from our church unexpectedly ran away from home. I remember looking at the mother crying in agony and worry and calling out to her son to "come home". I was reminded by God’s Holy Spirit about the story in the Bible of the prodigal son and how the father longs for the return of his son, even though his son had done the wrong thing, and how much joy he felt when he was able to welcome his son back into his home. No matter what had happened the father was ready to receive him with open arms and love. I recall relating this story, and the story of the young boy, to how God sent His son to die for our sins no matter what we had or have done, and no matter who we are and what we have become; He is standing there with His arms wide open calling us to COME HOME.

So, sitting at their house, I asked for a pen and paper and started scribbling down all those words that were popping into my head. My dear brother Aaseesh noticed this, came over and giggled at what I was doing. However I kept writing and he became inspired and offered to help put my words to music. Once we got home we continued to work on the song and I remember this being a really special time. Fast forward to 2012 and my brother Aassesh died unexpectedly in a car accident, causing this time of writing to become even more special.

The same song that was sung by me and Aaseesh to that boy, is now being sung alone by me to Aaseesh as I remember his life. He is no longer here with us and he has taken away the laughter, the happiness, the music that we shared, and a part of me. However, what brings me immense joy is that he is home with my Heavenly Father, covered in His arms of love and so I live with this greatest hope that I will see him again one day when I myself get to COME HOME. There will be music and laughter and happiness and we will worship His mighty name together in our heavenly HOME.
