This panel brings together historians, preservationists, and community storytellers dedicated to documenting the legacy of Atlanta’s historic Black neighborhoods. Panelists will share their efforts to preserve the stories, landmarks, and cultural fabric that shaped communities such as Sweet Auburn and The Lightning. Through their work, they reveal how these neighborhoods became centers of Black excellence, resilience, and resistance. The discussion underscores the urgent need to protect these histories as vital threads in Atlanta’s—and America’s—Black narrative.
