This documentary film is presented to you by Lutèce Créations (https://www.automates-boites-musique.com), the European specialist of music boxes and automatons. Our company proposes through its Parisian store and its websites, various old automatons (from the end of the XIXth century until the first world war) and vintage (from the 50's).

In this documentary, "Automates d'aujourd'hui (Automatons of today)", made in 1942, in the middle of the world war, are shown old automatons (monkeys and snake man from the Decamps company, Jean-Marie Phalibois' great magician and singing birds in cages and snuffboxes). All these artificial beings, often with complex mechanics, came out of the workshops of the worthy descendants of Vaucanson and Jaquet-Droz, with no other purpose than to create life and entertain us.

Automatic machines, on the other hand, have the mission of replacing the human hand in tedious tasks with rigorous precision (printing newspapers, packing cigarettes, rolling cigars, etc.).

The machines, more and more intelligent, also know how to take the initiative in case of breakdown and even to reason according to various situations (sorting machine, establishment of receipts, sorting station, automatic doors according to the entries etc...).
