This tasty recipe uses no eggs and comes from “55 Ways To Save Eggs” which is from 1917. I used an 8”x 8” square metal pan and baked it for about 25-30 mins in a 375F oven! Please let me know what you think. Enjoy!
1 ¾ cups cornmeal
¼ cup flour
4 TSP baking powder
1 TBSP sugar (if desired)
1 TSP salt
1 ½ cups milk
2 TBSP melted shortening
Mix dry ingredients together in bowl. Add milk and melted shortening; beat well and pour into a well greased pan or muffin tins and bake in hot oven about 25 minutes.
