GET LEGIT…you’re ready to start your UGC business and journey, but you’re not sure about the legal logistics of starting and running a legitimate UGC business?

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to start your UGC business legally and stay legal as a UGC Creator.
➡️ Get a solid UGC contract template drafted by a lawyer that also includes legal training so you know how to edit the Brand’s contract AND negotiate the best brand deal possible.
➡️ Pick your UGC business name- make sure it hasn’t been taken or trademarked by someone else. If it is not your legal name, you’ll need a DBA, but only if you are in certain states. Check your state's Secretary of State website.
Get an EIN (Employer Identification Number) for your business
➡️ Look on your local state websites for any business license/permit requirements
➡️ You get a brand deal (paid or gifted) - you are officially a Sole Proprietorship and in business.
➡️ Make that money!
➡️ Start your LLC
➡️ Get an EIN (again, for your LLC this time)
➡️ Get a separate bank account for your LLC and apply for a business credit card (but be smart about it)
➡️ Pay your taxes - once you start making over $400 in the year, you need to pay your business taxes.
