After my fist overlanding trip sleeping in the Crosstrek, it became clear to me that I really wanted a way to open the hatch from inside the car.
This quick mod walks you thru how to remove the interior plastic panels from the hatch, and how to wire an interior switch. Whole thing took me less than an hour and cost less than $25. Enjoy!
