Blåsjø is located in Suldalsheiane and is Norway's largest energy reservoir. The reservoir is held in place by 11 small and large dams. At its highest regulated water level, Blåsjø covers an area of over 82 km2. Storvassdammen, Oddatjørndammen and Førrevassdammen are among the largest dams belonging to the Bjåsjø reservoir. Storvassdammen is Norway's largest filling dam, Oddatjørndammen is the highest filling dam in Norway, while Førrevassdammen is Norway's largest concrete dam with its 1270 meters length and 90 meters height.
To get to Blåsjø, you must turn off from Rv13, and drive past Gullingen Turistsenter and further into the mountain. The road is usually open between July and October, but is closed when the snow settles.
Blåsjø is also well suited for cycling trips into the mountains on nice roads. If you want to see larger parts of the beautiful mountain landscape, you can take a trip to the tourist cabin "Stranddalen".
Out of respect for the wild reindeer and their migration, motorized traffic is not allowed in the Storvassdammen reservoir. Here, small disturbances can cause great damage.
