When you sharpen a straight razor it’s important that you use the most acute angle possible. To accomplish this in a Wicked Edge, no matter which model you have, you should try to clamp by the tang of the blade so the edge hangs out over the front of the vise. The abrasives I recommend for straight razors are the following:
1000 grit diamond stone (only if razor is in bad shape)
1500 grit diamond stone (use this to draw your burr)
6, 3, 1.5 Micron Diamond Lapping Films, in that order
1/0.5 Micron Diamond Compound on Leather strops
0.25/0.125 Micron Compound on Kangaroo Leather Strops
