Let’s face it, the thought of your teen dating is as gross and scary to you as your teenager imagining you doing the wild thing with your partner. You can hide from it, but that won’t help.
Parents ask me every day how to set boundaries with their teen as they begin dating. That’s a great question but it’s the final step of the process and skipping the first 4 sets your teen up for heartache.
What’s more concerning, the number of parents who message me saying their teenager is already attached to an unhealthy relationship and is slowly slipping away.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
We need to stop pretending teenagers understand healthy relationships, or will learn them via trial and error, because those stakes are too high. Trust me, that’s how I learned and it was more like a horror movie, not your average romcom.
