This video shows the types of pile foundation. There are main two types of foundation namely, shallow foundation and deep foundation. Pile foundation comes under the category of deep foundation. Pile foundation has further different types. There are three types of pile foundation depending on the site location.These are,
1. End bearing pile
2. Friction pile
3. Friction cum end bearing pile
End bearing pile is used when the bottom of the pile is hard strata that is hard rock, Friction pile is used where there is no such hard strata of soil beneath the pile but the resistance is offered by the skin of the pile.Friction cum end bearing pile is the type of pile foundation where resistance is offered by both the end bearing as well as the skin friction.
