Pruning an Evergreen Shrub into a Topiary Form // Linda Vater

Get out your snips and let’s prune a ‘Dragon Prince’ cryptomeria from Southern Living Plants into a two ball standard topiary. Meditation gardening at its very best! This Evergreen had a great potential as a Topiary from the outset. By the end of the summer it will probably have perfect symmetry and fluffy new growth. I can’t wait to see how it evolves and grows over time. This is definitely one of my new favorite evergreens - aesthetically anyway, and as it is new to me, I am anxious to see how it performs in the garden and in the heat of our summers. I put a link below if you want to try your hand at one. Also, in a future segment I’m going to do some button pruning on the gallon size. Be brave! Prune a Topiary!
