Wadia 16 mid service. Features, faults and very fresh KSS-151A laser.

This is a short video to show how little use this player had. Its laser unit, the magnetically driven, friction-less KSS-151A is only about 8% percent used, so it still has 92% of life ahead of it. I have made an error when making the video and said it was only 1.4% used but got my figures wrong. 54,45-53,7 is 0.75mA out of 10mA allowed to increase, and is 7.5% of the service life and not the 1.4% claimed. Apologies. Still, it is pretty fresh and a lot (most) of life left in it (around 92%). Great specs and great engineering featuring a lot of noise isolation and shielding, lots of regulators (10+), quality construction. 4 x Burr-Brown PCM-1702 DAC chips which are considered either the top DAC ever made and among top few and penultimate traditional ones before the cheaper to manufacture Sigma-Delta took over. Having 4 of them, the proper balanced output can be achieved with high resolution, dynamics and signal to noise ratio. I wish I could afford to keep it for myself.
