Ricketts Point is located in Port Phillip Bay 22 kilometres (14 miles) south of the Melbourne Victoria Australia and Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary was created on 16th November 2002 by the Victoria Government.

It is 115 hectares in size, stretching 3 kilometres along the coastline between Table Rock Point in Beaumaris and Quiet Corner in Black Rock, and 500 metres out to sea. It is ecologically valued for both its diverse marine life and migrant and resident bird populations.
Ricketts Point and the Marine Sanctuary sits within an Aboriginal cultural landscape in the traditional Sea Country of the Bunurong People. The historic Aboriginal well once lost, is located about 50 metres north of the Beaumaris Yacht club in a flat rock slab that projects from the edge of the sand dune cliff towards the sea.
