____ REVERB. PARALLEL PROCESSING: Time based processors: Use a plate, spring, or chamber reverb on a Stereo Aux Input track. From the source dry audio track, use a send to an available bus. Turn up send level. On the Reverb Aux Input track select the same send path as the input.
____ PARALLEL COMPRESSION. From the source audio track (kick, snare, overheads) us a send bus path say and route the signal to the input of an aux input track with a compressor. You Will then blend the dry and compressed signal to achieve an optimal sound.
____ EQ - Use EQ with a purpose, try a Pultec EQ. Generally, CUT MORE FREQUENCIES THAN BOOSTING. This will leave more space for other frequencies to cut through.
____ Use one of the following AVID classic compressor plug-ins, LA2A, LA3A, 1176, or Fairchild compressor.
____ Set markers perfectly on the down beat of the music (kick transients) to mark the start of different song sections such as Intro, Verse, and Chorus.
____ MIX: Make mix automation changes according to your markers. Select between two markers, and change view to volume or pan. You can mix sectionally like this, and apply your selection to clip gain for a quick level change.
