Welcome to Archinest! In this episode, we explore Murakoshi House, a thoughtfully designed urban home in Ota City, Japan, by S Design Farm. Situated on a pentagon-shaped corner lot, this two-story + loft wooden house is a perfect blend of privacy, ventilation, and flood-resistant design.
To adapt to its unique site conditions, the architects minimized outer openings while incorporating a large external atrium for natural light and airflow. The trapezoidal living-dining area enhances spatial perception, while a high foundation ensures protection from flooding. With high insulation performance (Ua 0.37), heat-exchange ductless ventilation, and smart home technology, this house offers a sustainable and energy-efficient living experience.
From its monolithic exterior to its versatile parking space, Murakoshi House demonstrates how urban homes can be both resilient and beautifully designed. Join us as we take a closer look at this architectural masterpiece!
