It is a fact that the Earth's poles have flipped 183 times in its lifetime, with the magnetic field reduced to around 10% of the norm. On each occasion this has left the Earth vulnerable to EMP's and dangerous cosmic radiation reaching the surface. The last occasion was around 41,000 years ago, with survival depending on cave dwelling .

When Professor Carter collates the current data, it is clear it's about to happen again with the magnetic field rapidly declining. With his advanced knowledge, he prepares for the catastrophe facing humanity by having a bunker constructed in the mountains of West Virginia for himself and his son and daughter to survive.

What he hadn't planned for that there would be others out there who would want he had prepared for, taking them on a perilous journey to retain what was theirs.

Their continued survival will rely on the outcome.
