In this video we explore one of the most important noise coupling mechanisms in EMC debugging: capacitive noise coupling.

We begin by covering the basic physical fundamentals, explaining where capacitive coupling comes from and why it occurs in real electronic systems. Using a clear numerical example on the whiteboard, you will see how even very small parasitic capacitances can transfer significant high frequency noise.
We then move into the lab where we demonstrate this effect in practice by:
Measuring the parasitic capacitance formed between two small PCB copper planes
Showing how noise propagates from one structure to another
Using a Bode 500 to visualize the coupling behavior across frequency
If you are designing power supplies, switching converters, or high speed digital circuits and struggling with EMC compliance, understanding capacitive coupling is a critical first step.
👉 This topic is covered in much greater depth in our EMC Debug and Practical Compliance Workshops, where participants learn systematic debug methods using real test equipment and real design examples.
