Inspired by GimR's recent lab work and at the request of a fellow DKcrew member, K1NG, I recently experimented with the ledge slip roll mechanic in Smash Ultimate in a labbing session.

As you can see, this mechanic not only allows for easier trumping (as first shown by GIMR) but it also universally allows for stage hugging aerials. This will result in edge guards that were not practical or even possible until now.

I only tested a handful of characters so there are bound to be some amazing implementations that I haven't tried yet, so feel free to experiment on your own!
