Also known as Barton Road Level Crossing.
Situated near Thornton Abbey and Gatehouse, which is an English Heritage site, as-well as Thornton Abbey station visible from the crossing.
This crossing is known as a Automatic Half Barrier Crossing which is locally monitored by the train driver on approach. As such, there are driver crossing indicators and white lights which flash when the crossing is in operation.
