"Polyushko-pole", composed by Lev Knipper in 1933, was the first of several Soviet songs that gained popularity not only in the USSR, but also in the West, where it was adapted under different titles like "Meadowlands", "Cossack Patrol", "Cavalry of the Steppes" or "Fields, My Fields". But already in the Soviet Union the catchy song was recorded many times over the years.
