Itanagar, Nov 26: The Arunachal Pradesh Trade Union Federation (APTUF) today began its phase-wise agitation across the state, after alleging that the government has failed to address long-pending demands of workcharged, contingency and casual workers.
The first phase, which commenced this morning, includes peaceful dharnas statewide, with workers in the capital gathering at Tennis Court, IG Park, while district units demonstrate at DC office premises and other designated locations.
APTUF’s key demands include enhancement of grade pay, creation of WC posts, regularisation of workers with long service records, recognition of one-day break as a full holiday, and compensation for retired workers.
The second phase, a tools/pen-down strike, will follow on 2 December, while a mass rally and procession is scheduled for 8 December. The future course of action will be announced in the fourth phase after a general meeting the same day.
The announcement, signed by Chairman Changna Tajo and Secretary General Kenkar Yomcha, urged all workers to participate actively, asserting that the movement aims to secure the rights and welfare of the working-class community in the state.
