The Old Guard (2020) is a superhero action film directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood and based on the comic book series by Greg Rucka. The story follows a covert team of immortal mercenaries. These centuries-old fighters have secretly influenced history through their battles for justice. When their immortality is exposed after a mission is compromised, the team must fight to stay hidden while facing a powerful pharmaceutical company.
As the team grapples with the consequences of eternal life, they also encounter Nile, a U.S. Marine who discovers she shares their gift. Nile’s arrival forces the team to confront their own history, morality, and the question of whether their endless fighting has any lasting impact. The bond between the immortals, shaped by centuries of shared struggle, becomes a central focus as they fight to protect one another and their secret.
