The Buffalo Sabres beat the Washington Capitals 8-5 on March 30, 2025. While Washington scored first, Tage Thompson responded quickly with a power-play goal to even the score. Ryan McLeod scored early in the second on a pass from Jack Quinn and the goal was quickly met with a response from the Capitals. Alex Tuch deflected Connor Clifton's pass to regain the lead and Sam Lafferty followed it up with a backhanded goal to give Buffalo a 4-2 lead closing the second frame. Thompson notched his second power-play goal of the night and 38th goal of the season to kick off the third. Quinn notched Buffalo's sixth of the night on a breakaway. After an effort from the Capitals to tie the game, Tuch scored again, and Peyton Krebs scored an empty net goal to secure the win. James Reimer made 29 saves in the matchup.
