Exploring Fort Kochi | Mattancherry Bazaar Shopping | Sadhya at Ginger Restaurant | Kathakali Show

Just got round to editing this footage. This video was shot when we visited Kerala in December 2018.

Day 5 of our Kochi trip was all about wandering around and exploring the oldest quarters of Kochi City – Fort Kochi aka The Dutch Quarter and Mattancherry aka Jew Town. We packed in so much excitement into this day, with trips to see the Traditional Chinese Fishing Nets, a few famous churches including one built in 1503 St. Francis Church and Santa Cruz Cathedral, and later caught a spectacular Kathakali performance at the Kathakali Centre.

No day excursion is complete without some mouth-watering meals and that's precisely what we enjoyed for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We started our day at the famous Kashi Art Cafe (Fort Kochi) in what was a peak of the Kochi Muziris Biennale 2018, enjoyed a extremely satisfying non-vegetarian Sadhya meal at Ginger Restaurant (Mattancherry), and ended the day with a bit of pizza and pasta at Upstairs Italian Restaurant (Fort Kochi).

We topped off the day with a little bit oif souvenir and gift shopping at Mattancherry Bazaar and headed home for a much needed rest. It was a looooong day, but well worth every minute of it. If you really want to take in the feel of the Dutch quarter, we recommend you stay there for a few days and let all the art and culture soak in. Book ahead if you're coming during the annual Kochi Muziris Biennale as places get full up in advance.
